Valor Baseball Bats Red Hot

The Eagles played only one game after Tuesday last week against Mountain Range, who was in the 5A final four last year. Mountain Range got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Valor answered with 2 runs of their own in the second.

The game stayed fairly quiet until the 5th inning, when Mountain Range sent 2 more runs across home plate. In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Eagles answered with four runs of their own, and in the sixth they did more of the same, tallying 8 runs in two innings.

Eagles racked up 11 hits on the day. Wiesner, Birkholz, Whipple, and Yarborough all had two hits to lead the team to victory.

Birkholz earned the win for Valor Christian. He went five innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, striking out six and walking zero. Deacon Nagy threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Weather came on Saturday, so the Eagles had to postpone their game against Rock Canyon until Tuesday of this week. The tough schedule continues during the week with games against Cherokee Trail, Rock Canyon, and Chaparral. On Saturday, Valor will start league play against a very solid Chatfield baseball program.
