Swim+Dive Takes 7th Place At 5A State Championships

The Girls Swim+Dive team had an exciting weekend competing at the 5A state championship  meet. The team had 11 girls compete at the state meet, with 18 individual events and 3 relays competing in prelims. Of those, there were 8 individual swims and 3 relays making it past prelims and into finals on Saturday.

The 200 medley relay made up of Erin McCarty, Hosanna Amare, Karley Bennett, and Kalie Linden finished 20th. AJ Adams and Daciana Colon finished 17th and 20th respectively in the 200 freestyle. Ashley Stenstrom tied for 8th in the 200 IM and 4th in the 100 freestyle. Lindsay Stenstrom finished 4th in the 50 freestyle and 2nd in the 100 freestyle. Makayla Hoehn finished 15th in the 100 butterfly. The 200 freestyle relay made up of A. Stenstrom, Mary Hoover, Hoehn, and L. Stenstrom finished 6th overall. Colon finished 13th in the 100 backstroke with a new school record. The meet concluded with a 5th place finish from the 400 freestyle relay made up of A. Stenstrom, Adams, Hoehn, and L. Stenstrom.

At the end of the night, Valor’s performance led them to a 7th place finish across all of 5A. Congratulations to all the girls who competed all season long and set the tone for the Eagles’ 5A presence. We are looking to big things from our team in the next few years!
