Mary Poppins Earns Two Bobby G Nominations

Two students from this spring’s production of Mary Poppins have been nominated by the Bobby G Committee for excellence in musical theatre.

The Bobby G Awards are named after Broadway touring pioneer Robert Garner. They recognize and celebrate the best of Colorado’s high school musical theatre by sending professional theatre experts to adjudicate shows all over the state.

This year, Junior Elleon Dobias (pictured above, left) and Sophomore Abby Lehrer (above, right) received the honor of being nominated. Elleon’s portrayal of Miss Andrew, the mean and nasty childhood nanny of Mr. Banks, earned her the nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Actress. Abby’s portrayal of Bird Woman received a nomination for Rising Star, given to freshmen and sophomore students with particularly stunning performances.

Elleon and Abby will be honored at the annual awards ceremony on May 26, 2016, modeled after the Tony Awards and held in The Buell Theatre.
