The Valor XC Varsity runners had a week off of competition, but the JV team kept things running smoothly. The team raced at the Dave Sanders Invite at Clement Park under very nice conditions. Dave Sanders has generally been hot and windy weather over the past few years, so to have 70 degrees & cloud cover was a welcome gift.
The top 7 JV Girls actually ran in the Varsity Division on Friday and ran very, very well. The JV girls placed tenth out of 18 VARSITY teams, so they were very competitive. Freshman Alli Randall led the charge for the girls with a brand new personal best. She was followed by senior Nicole MacDonald, who qualified for the Nike XC Regional Race in Casa Grande, AZ with her performance. Sophomore Sophie Thomas and two freshman, Avery Sprout and Rosie McVaney, finished up the scoring for the Varsity race.
The rest of the JV girls ran in the Open Division and ran very well. Freshman Ellie Cimbura led the way for the open race with a significant personal best time. Overall the JV Girls had an awesome day!
The JV Boys ran in the Open Division as well and finished fourth place overall. Junior River Schreckengost led the way for the JV Boys and finished sixth overall in the Open Race. The underclassmen would finish out the scoring for Valor, with with two freshman and two sophomores leading the way. Nathan Ringquist, Brennan Martin, Jack Billman and Jake Van Vechten were Valor’s final scorers on the day.
Overall it was a day filled with many personal best times on a course not knowing for producing fast results.
This coming week will see Valor’s team split up into two different meets. The majority of the boys and most of the girls will be racing at the Denver West Invite at Sunken Gardens afternoon, while Cole Sprout and the Girls Varsity team have been invited into the prestigious Sweepstakes Division at the Desert Twilight Meet in Casa Grande, AZ on Friday evening.
Stay tuned for results from Valor XC Distance!
