ROLE SUMMARY

Team members at Valor Christian High School are charged with preparing tomorrow’s leaders to transform the world for Christ. Substitute Teachers live out a compelling relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to daily instruction, and interactions with students, parents and team members. Through their interactions, substitute teachers instruct and support faculty members in their absence and students in their academic and spiritual development.

• Instruct students effectively for appropriate levels and courses within subject area for grades 9-12
• Maintain a classroom environment that encourages student involvement and participation
• Adapt teaching methods to students’ abilities to maximize learning
• Appropriately execute lesson plans left by the absent faculty member in a way that meets the spiritual and academic need of the
students
• Deliberately integrate Biblical truth and Christian values into curriculum and instruction
• Leave thorough feedback to absent faculty regarding daily outcomes

• Excel in advancing Valor’s Student Outcomes including: spiritual formation, college preparedness, and cultural engagement

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

• Solid biblical and theological foundation
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Advanced Degree in the subject matter is preferred
• Ability to adjust instructional methods to meet the needs of the students in each type of learning environment
• High School teaching experience preferred

POSITION TYPE: ½ day or full day rate
HOURS PER WEEK: As needed
SUPERVISOR: Academic Coordinator
