Academic Coordinator

ROLE SUMMARY

The Academic Coordinator is thorough, organized and responsible and has a heart for serving others with a high level of customer service. As the Academic Coordinator, you thrive on knowing that all the details are well-coordinated and executed giving assurance to the Academic Team.

The Academic Coordinator manages the general operations and responsibilities associated with Valor’s Academic Program. The Coordinator organizes, oversees, and performs everyday administrative duties associated with academic operations including faculty absences, academic communications, event coordination and project planning. Partnership and collaboration with the Academic Leadership Team is required.

As the Coordinator, you will report to the Academic Dean keeping him/her informed and up-to-date as well as assuming any tasks and responsibilities he/she may have for you. You are teachable, servant-hearted, and capable of a handling a high volume of work with a spirit of willingness. In addition, you have excellent communication skills, are flexible and self-motivated. The Coordinator lives out a compelling relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to your daily work and interactions with students, parents and team members.

You are most likely to thrive in this role if you can wake-up each day with the thought on your mind: “How will we honor God today at Valor, and what is in the best interest of our students?” As well, this will be the filter used for all Academic communications, events and activities. You care deeply about the Vison and Mission of Valor and the daily experience of our students, parents and faculty in that regard.

Faculty Absence and Substitute Management
• Manage out of office requests from faculty and maintain classroom coverage that supports the best interest of students
• Oversee substitute teacher pool and provide support and guidance to substitute teachers

Academic Communications
• Plan and execute the academic communications of the school including weekly communications in the parent newsletter
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and the Valor team
• Maintain and update the academic components of the Valor website including course listings, summer school registration, key
announcements

Academic Events
• Oversee and participate in the coordination, control, and completion of special projects and events including Day in the Life,
Academic Recognition Night, senior events, and other key events

Project Planning
• Maintain and coordinate the proctoring schedule for final exams and support the coordination of makeup finals
• Supports the Academic Leadership team in any of the tasks associated with accreditation
• Coordinate and execute Practicum week

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Familiar with technologies, software (Google, Adobe Suite) and other applications to support and enrich the academic program
• Strong organizational skills and knowledge of office management techniques
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High level of customer service

POSITION TYPE: C-Year-round, Salary, Exempt
