Girls XC Takes First, Boys XC Takes Third at Regionals

Valor XC had a fantastic showing at the Regional Meet this past Thursday, with the girls team winning the overall Regional title and sophomore runner, Cole Sprout, winning the individual title while leading the boys team to a third place finish overall! Both teams qualified for the State meet this coming Saturday in Colorado Springs.

The boys got things going for Valor XC with a third place finish, pulling a couple of upsets by doing so. This was the boys highest ever finishing place at the Regional Meet and will advance them to the State Meet for the second year in a row. Sophomore, Cole Sprout, who will be one of the individual favorites for a state title, paced the team by winning the Regional Meet handily. Cole paced an overachieving group of boys that consisted of Josh Thompson, Jack Ray, Matt Harrison, Mike McKee, Beau Thomason and River Shreckengost. That group of seven boys will be headed to the State Meet where they hope to pull a few more upsets!

The Valor girls pulled off an upset of their own and won the Regional Meet as a team as well. The girls placed three individuals in the top five with Keely Jones, Taylor Whitfield and Riley Irwin all finishing very close together near the front of the pack. Kindyll Wetta also posted a top 15 finish and Emma Sees finished out the scoring. Hadley Jason and Sophie Thomas were other members of the top seven girls and they will all be competing as a team together at the State Meet this weekend.

What an incredible and unexpected season it has been so far for the team. Be looking for more to come from Valor XC this coming Saturday at the State XC Meet!
