Girls Tennis Looks To Improve Upon Last Year’s Success

The 2018 girls tennis team will boast their biggest turnout this season as the girls look to defend their 2017 Jeffco conference championship and regional championship from last year.  In addition, the girls will look to once again improve upon their sportsmanship and possibly win back to back state sportsmanship awards.

With 8 returning varsity players from last year, the team will be led by seniors Darby Warburton, Sam Chavez, and Lucie Hosse. In addition returning players Mary Hertel, Marguerite Keegan, Avery Warburton, Isabella Pacheco, and Emily Untermeyer will be major contributors, as they all qualified for the state tournament and have their sights set on a return visit in 2018.

This season will see the girls compete against Cherry Creek, Niwot, Colorado Academy, and Kent Denver while playing in Chattanooga, TN in March.  It will mark the first time a Valor tennis team has traveled out of state, and they are excited for the opportunity.

The girls will focus on “joy” this season.  Coach Shannon Pettus and the rest of the coaches are excited to share how joy can fill our hearts no matter how life is going with Bible Verses and Scripture.

Psalm 28:7 – “The Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.  My heart leaps for joy and Will give thanks to him.”
