Girls tennis brings in returners, newcomers, for an exciting season

As the girls tennis team starts the spring season, there is a sense of optimism as the Eagles look to build on a second place finish in Jeffco last year and sending four participants to Pueblo for the state tournament. This year’s squad will be led by co-captains Tiffany Parobek and Darby Warburton.  Parobek will be seeking her fourth trip to State in four years, and Warburton will look to punch her first ticket to Pueblo at number two singles this year.  The number one singles spot will be occupied by sophomore Emily Untermeyer while the number three singles spot will be filled by freshman Isabelle Pacheco. The depth of the team will again show with strong doubles play from returning letter winners Elizabeth Jones, Marguerite Keegan, Mary Hertel, and Samantha Chavez-Salinas. In addition, senior Nicole Gutesha and junior Lucie Hosse bring much needed experience to the team this year.  Newcomers Avery Warburton and Abby Willis also look to add depth to the doubles lineups as the season starts.

This year’s team has a strong nucleus and a fantastic work ethic and a love for the game. It should be a great season for the girls as we focus on our spiritual theme of “dependence and sportsmanship.”

“Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.  Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your way to the Lord,  trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light and your justice as the noonday. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.”

Psalm 37: 3-7
