The Eagles Girls Tennis tennis team wrapped up the season last Thursday in Pueblo. Tiffany Parobek, playing #2 singles at state, lost a tough match to Steamboat Springs. Parobek had a great year and becomes 1 of only 2 players at Valor to make the state tournament in her first 3 years. Congratulations Tiffany! At #3 doubles, Marguerite Keegan and Sophia Hazelton lost a rematch with D’Evelyn in the first round. After losing to them 6-0, 6-1 during the regular season, the girls fought hard in a 6-3, 7-5 loss this time around. This was the first trip down to Pueblo for both young ladies and we are confident they will be back there next year as well.
Overall the girls finished 8-1 in the Jeffco conference and took 2nd place behind a formidable D’Evelyn team. They also placed 3rd at regionals behind Kent Denver and Discovery Canyon. Those two teams finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the state tournament last week. Darby Warburton and Tiffany Parobek were first team all-conference while Mary Hertel, Sam Chavez-Salinas, Sophia Hazelton, and Marguerite Keegan all finished with 2nd team all-conference awards.
After losing 8 of their 11 varsity players last year, the girls fought extremely hard this spring and had a fantastic season.
We are already looking forward to the spring season in 2017.
