Girls Lax Makes Program History With Playoff Run

This past week was a huge emotional journey for our girl’s lacrosse program. They hosted the first round of the State Championship Tournament for the first time in program history and pulled out a huge win against 17th ranked Palmer Ridge. The Eagles faced Palmer Ridge their first game of the season and played them to a 15-8 game. This second meeting boasted an 18-4 complete domination of the Bears. Addy Tysdal was an absolute force to be reckon with this game. She, with the help of our defensive unit, held Palmer Ridge to 4 goals and had 11 saves. Addy also stated two caused turn overs and was 100% on clear attempts. Above all these accomplishments, Addy hit her 500th high school career save! We had eight different player put up points this game as well, which truly shows the dispersed talent throughout our team.

With the win against Palmer Ridge, the team faced defending state champion Colorado Academy this past Friday. The game resulted in a 15-7 loss which closed out the season for the Valor girl’s lacrosse program. While the game technically goes down as an “L” on our record, the team truly thought of it as a win. Only two other Colorado teams played them to a closer game this season. We truly proved to ourselves that we can compete with any team in our state and could not be more excited to face them again in the future. Our player of the game award went to Isabel Nicolai, who has been a leader for us on and off the field the entire season. She did an incredible job against CA, matching up with #2 Sloane Murphy on the draw and running midfield the entire game. Isabel has a steady, calming presence that is so significant to our team on both ends of the field.

In all, this was a great way to end our season. Every single one of the members of this entire program, both JV and varsity, improved immensely. They worked harder than I think they thought was ever possible. Each player committed themselves to positively impacting the program and it is very clear that they were able to accomplish this. I am very proud of the their efforts and what these girls were able to prove to themselves this season!!
