Lacrosse season is finally here, and the 2019 Valor Girls Lacrosse program is beyond excited to get under way. The program saw incredible growth last year making program history with their first ever CHSAA playoff win and finishing the 2018 season ranked 13th in the state for 5A.
39 student-athletes went through the tryout process last week. With rosters determined the teams have set out to push themselves to prepare for their first game against Grandview on Saturday, March 9th. The varsity program returns five seniors to lead the way. Maddie Allen, Gabbi Mastin, Teagan McNally, Cailey Reitsema and Addy Tysdal all will strive for their best performance in their final season. Additionally, the team returns 2018 All-Conference players Ally Gibb, Lauren Rismani and Payton Cheedle to contribute to the team’s success. The program has a talented freshmen class as well that have the potential to make a big impact immediately.
Valor Girls Lacrosse has a busy weekend ahead as well. They will begin their retreat Friday night, staying local. After games are completed Saturday, the girls will head up to Mt. Evans for their remainder of their team retreat. We are so fortunate to be able to spend this time together in a secluded cabin, bonding and creating memories these girls will never forget. It is so critical to the team building a sturdy foundation as we embark on the crazy journey of our season. It is going to be a jam-packed weekend, but it will no doubt be full of growth in lacrosse, in their relationship with each other and in the word of God.
The team is also excited to travel to San Diego over Spring Break for their first ever out-of-state trip in program history. They are grateful for the opportunity to compete against two of the best teams in the entire state of California. The Valor Girls Lacrosse team is ranked 10th in the CHSAA pre-season poll and the program will look to continue to rise in the ranks in both Continental League and 5A State play.
