The girls lacrosse team once again made program history, winning their second round playoff game and advancing to the quarterfinals for the first time.
During Saturday afternoon’s home playoff game, the Eagles hosted league opponent ThunderRidge, whom they had lost to earlier in the season. Valor and ThunderRidge competed neck-and-neck for the league title all season long, and a league loss for ThunderRidge in the final game of the regular season gave Valor the final push they needed to clinch the title.
The Eagles were looking to avenge their earlier loss, and came out ready to play on Saturday. ThunderRidge took an early lead before both teams just started trading goals.
Finally, late into the second half, the Eagles were able to tie up the game and then take the lead with an incredible shot from Payton Cheedle. It was all uphill from there, as the girls took complete control of the rest of the game and edged their way into a 9-8 victory over the Grizzlies.
Valor will travel to Aspen High School on Wednesday to face the No. 4-seeded Skiers at 5:00 pm.
