Girls Lacrosse Takes Down Canyon In Home Opener

What an exciting week it was for the Valor girl’s lacrosse program! We had a number of players involved in Discovery trips during our time off. A few of the places our players went included Haiti, India, Honduras and Houston. Ultimately though everyone came back from Spring Break and Practicum week ready to go and excited to pick up right where we left off.

Tuesdays game against Heritage/Littleton was a good opportunity to get readjusted. Addy Tysdal had a shut out this game which ended 17-0. Maria Viselli was dominant in transition, shutting down HL attackers from getting the ball and coming up with some big cased turnovers.

Our Rock Canyon game was more competitive, but the team pulled out an 11-4 win, having dominance over the Jaguars the entire 50 minutes of play. Freshman Sarah Fabian stepped up in her new role as a middie and put forth a great effort.

Saturday’s game against Pine Creek was by far the best defensive game we’ve had yet. The team had total and complete trust in the coaching staff to stay in a high pressure defensive system and boy did it pay off. It was fun to see a team have to make major in game adjustments because they were not prepared and could not handle what we were throwing at them. While we lost the game 10-2, we held a top-5 opponent to their lowest scoring game of the season by 5 goals. Pretty impressive! Our league games come on heavy the next two weeks, so we are excited to see what we are capable off.
