Girls Golf finishes tenth at Valor Invite, third at Applewood Golf Course tournament

Valor Girls Golf hosted a successful tournament on March 16 at Highlands Ranch Golf Club with fifteen teams (3A, 4A, and 5A) competing. Ralston Valley claimed the title with a team score of 239, followed by runner-up Windsor at 250. Ralston Valley’s Jordan Remley took individual honors with a fine round of even par 72. Valor’s young team gained valuable experience in their first tournament of the year, placing tenth with a team score of 278. Junior Izzy Marchino led the team with an 87 to place in a tie for 14th and was supported by freshman Sam Schoenborn (95), sophomore Morgan Hamler (96), junior Alex Benschneider (102), sophomore Kelsey Speltz (109), junior Caroline Burger (116), and senior Tess Clark (117).

The first of six Jefferson County 4A League tournaments was held at Applewood Golf Course on March 21. Golden took the lead with a team score of 259 followed by Evergreen at 395 and Valor at 411. Sam Schoenborn led the Eagels with a score of 97 to place seventh. Supporting Sam were Caroline Burger (101-9th), Morgan Hamler (104-12th), Alex Benschneider (109-16th), and Kelsey Spelts (110-17th).

After a two week pause for Practicum and Spring Break,  Valor Girls Golf will continue the season competing in the second Jeffco League tourney on Monday, April 3 at Fox Hollow Golf Course and the first Gold Crown tourney to be held at Homestead Golf Course on Tuesday, April 4.
