Eagles Overpower Castle View

The Eagles travelled to Big Bear Ice Arena on Friday night to take on last place Castle View. The Sabercats came out strong in the first period and outshot Valor by a margin of 8-6, but it was junior Colton Carlson who scored the only goal of the period to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead going into the first intermission.

Valor found their rhythm in the second period, scoring four times. Colton Carlson scored his second and third goals of the night to complete the hat trick, while senior Christopher Orsmond and junior Patrick Routzon notched single tallies.

The third period was all Valor as the Eagles scored three more times to shut out the Sabercats 8-0. Seniors Patrick Routzon and Nick Blisard, along with sophomore Ryder Price fired home single goals in the win.

Junior goaltender Trey Hirschfield was kept busier than many anticipated in stopping all 17 shots launched his way.

Valor (14-2-1) returns home on Saturday night to host Ralston Valley in what will be the final non-conference game of the season. Game time at the Ice Ranch is 6:30pm.

During the first intermission, all six seniors and their parents will be honored in the annual Senior Night ceremony.
