Eagles finish second in four team mini-invitational meet

The final point tallies were Lakewood 697, Valor Christian 496, Standley Lake 336, and Pomona 224. The boys were coming off a hard week of practices and still had some great swims.

Valor’s B 200 Medley Relay team of Alex Warren, Chris Chen, Brian Redington and Matthew Siegler kicked off the meet with an eighth place finish, and the A Medley Relay of Tristan Nieves, Dylan Jessen, Matthew Wyatt and Dylan Nasser came in third. In the 200 Freestyle, Liam Dooley and Levi Gooden had a very strong showing, finishing second and fourth. Dylan Nasser burned a win in the 200 I.M. and Matthew Wyatt brought strong points by finishing third. Chris Chen earned the number seven spot in the B 50 Freestyle event, while Mitch Peotter, Grant Pankratz and Matthew Siegler went fifth, sixth, and ninth in the A event.

In the 6-dive Diving, Matthew King showed some new moves and finished second, followed by Brae VanNice in fourth, Adam Valdes in fifth and Aaron Ward in sixth.

Kicking off the second session of the swimming events, Levi and Brian Redington powered to third and tenth in the 100 Butterfly. Mitch Peotter rushed to a personal best in the B Heat 100 Freestyle at 59.89 (third) and Tristan Nieves and Matthew Wyatt fought to fifth and ninth. Liam detonated a first place in the A 100 Freestyle at 49.84, and Grant marked a personal best in fourth place while Alex pulled into sixth in a strong field.

Matthew Siegler, Brian, Chris and Tristan put together four rock-solid performances for an eighth place in the 200 Freestyle Relay, and the squad of Levi, Mitch, Grant and Liam blazed to a close second place finish.  The 100 Backstroke was another great event for the Eagles, with Dylan Nasser laying a first place finish and Matthew Siegler swimming the event for the first time this season and finishing seventh! The Valor tankers raced in a strong field in the 100 Breaststroke, with Dylan Jessen, second, just a few tenths of a second out of first, with  Alex, Chris and Brian finishing fourth, ninth and tenth.  The 400 Freestyle Relay had nine entries across the four teams – Valor’s B relay of Matthew Wyatt, Grant, Liam and Alex raced to second, while the A relay of Dylan Nasser, Mitch, Levi and Dylan Jessen made a wake while garnering points with a fourth place.

There is only one dual meet left in the season (Thursday, May 4 vs Littleton High School at Littleton) and then the Valor Boys Swim and Dive Team are off to the Jeffco League Championships May 12 and 13 at Meyers Pool in Arvada.
