For many students, international Discovery Experience trips are one of the highlights of their time at Valor. These immersion trips allow students to engage in intercultural learning, community development, and service opportunities in environments that could not be more different from their own.
In 2019, more than 400 students attended trips in 20+ countries. Here are just a few highlights.
BoliviaStudents spent a week offering the love and encouragement of Jesus Christ to babies, toddlers and preschool-aged children in a children’s home in Cochabamba, Bolivia. When not ministering to kids, this team worked on various service projects in the area.
AlbaniaStudents partnered with Campus Crusade for Christ’s high school and campus outreaches and other ministries in Albania to share the gospel with the local Roma people.
BrazilStudents taught English workshops, engaged youth in conversations about the Bible, competed in group sport competitions and served the poor in local Brazilian village communities with small construction projects.
SpainWhile journeying along the northern coast of Spain, students worked through a spiritual-formation curriculum while visiting monasteries and ancient churches along the Camino de Santiago.
CozumelAfter snorkeling and scuba diving in the beautiful clear water of Cozumel each day, students took time to support children’s ministry, distribute Spanish Bibles and engage local children in games and share the love of Christ.
Students built relationships with children in the Hope for the Fatherless homes through games and VBS, prepared new housing for future staff and volunteer teams and served alongside other local faith-based ministries in Addis Ababa and surrounding communities in Ethiopia.
Students partnered with Hope Rising Haiti to host a women’s retreat, build a small home for one widow’s family, love children in the community and an orphanage, host a sports outreach camp and pass out food and shoes in remote mountain communities in Haiti.
