The cheer team competed at the CHSAA State Championships over the weekend and came out as the 4A state champions! One year ago, the team had a devastating deduction in the prelims keeping them from finals and the possibility of a state championship. As a team, they never wanted to feel that kind of disappointment again. In prelims on Friday, the girls had a good performance but made some mistakes and barely made it out of the round. They were the seventh out of eight teams to make it to finals out of 39 total 4A teams.
On Saturday, they were a completely different group of girls. They met at Valor early before the competition Saturday to make some adjustments before heading to the competition. The cheer team was phenomenal in warm ups and performed a flawless routine in finals. They improved their prelims score by 10 points and were the clear winners. This team is one of a kind. Not only do they work very hard to perfect their own skills, they support the other teams on the Valor campus. This state championship was a true team effort but we are eternally grateful to our amazing six seniors who truly put their heart and soul into this team!
