Thursday night, the Eagles traveled to Cheyenne Mountain to take on the number three ranked team in 4A, winning in convincing fashion 22 to 8. The stout defense was lead by freshman goalie Jack Liselli with 10 saves, ground ball machine senior Brandon Boehm with four GB’s, and sophomore Matt Wetherington for locking off Cheyenne Mountains top scorer and holding him to a few goals. The offensive onslaught was lead by the attack tandem of senior Grayson Goodyear (seven goals and four assists) and sophomore Lance Tillman (six goals and seven assists). Rounding out the scoring for the high powered Eagles offense was Sean Traynor (three goals), Gianni Orlando (two goals and two assists), Montana McLaughlin (one goal, one assist), freshman Dante Orlando (one goal), junior Easton Cecil (one goal), junior Austin Saupe (one assist), and sophomore Eric Pacheco (one goal). Helping the offense was a dominating performance at the face off X by the Pacheco brothers, with Eric winning 28 of 31 faceoffs. On Friday night, the Eagles started league play, over-powering the Pirates from Englewood High School. The defense notched their first shutout of the season, with the defensive combining for 13 ground balls and allowing only seven shots on goal. Eight different offensive players contributed to the scoring in a ball control offense. Grayson Goodyear (three goals, one assist), Montana McLaughlin (five goals, one assist), Ian Acheson (three goals), Gianni Orlando (one goal, one assist), Sean Traynor (one assist), senior John Briggs (one goal), senior Ben Seidlin (one goal), Dante Orlando (one goal), sophomore Joe Anderson (one assist), Easton Cecil (one goal), and sophomore long-pole Jackson Soderquiest with a fantastic clear and assist. The hard hat player of the game was Jack Liselli for getting his first Varsity shutout.
