Boys Golf takes first and second at Mountain Range Invite

The Valor Boys Golf team completed its fifth week of the season with almost all of the team’s 32 players seeing action. Valor’s varsity competed in the Mountain Range HS Invite on Thursday, September 7 at Riverdale Knolls GC. Valor’s two teams were able to secure first and second place, with Mountain Range High School taking third.  Junior Jake Welch led the first team with a score of 70 to take first place individually. Jake was supported by junior Ty Findlow (72 – t3), senior Ben Rosenthal (76 – t8) and junior Trevor White (78 – 11th). Valor’s second team scores were sophomore Hunter Kahn (73 – 5th), sophomore Logan Byler (80 – 12th) and senior Christian Dokkenl (82 – 14th).

Valor and Evergreen are in a tight match for the League title with Valor holding a slim 5-stroke lead.  The final League Tourney will be played this week on Monday, September 11 at Hyland Hills GC.

Valor sent a mix of Varsity/Junior Varsity players to gain valuable playing experience and compete with 14 teams and 56 individual players in the Tay Invite on Tuesday, September 5 at Legacy Ridge GC.  Senior Tyler Ryan led all scores with a 76 to place first individually, followed by Sophomore Spence Pankratz (77 – 2nd), senior Tristan Lee (78 – t3), sophomore Will Armstrong (78 – t3), sophomore Kade Patterson (79 – t6), sophomore Lucas Schulte (82 – 9th), senior Ben Hall (87 – 11th), and freshman Langdon Bradley (96 – t28th).

Also on Tuesday, September 5, thirteen players from the Freshman/Sophomore team saw action in the third 9-hole competition of the season hosted by the Gold Crown Foundation at South Suburban GC – Ben Roberts (41), Tyler Ganse (46), Alex Henriques (47), Tyler Rotello (47), Jack Roberts (49), Carson Evans (49), Landen Ford (51), Chase Ganse (51), Alec Nealy (51), Jack Hamler (52), Brandon Jansen (52), Ben Scott (57), and Cole Ward (63).
