    Audition requirements for Theatre:
    • Theatre: two contrasting monologues for a total of 3 minutes (see below).
    • Musical Theatre: two contrasting monologues for a total of 3 minutes and two contrasting songs (See below).
      • Contrasting monologues and songs are represented by two truly diverse characters with two distinctive goals in very different situations from varied genres of shows.  Be sure it doesn’t feel like the same person on a different day or in a different mood; is not just different shades of gray.
      • Contrast can exist in:
        • Character
        • Objective
        • Genre
        • Situation
        • Type of Language
        • Movement Demands
        • Emotional Range
        • Mood or Tone of the Speech
        • Accent
    • The more differences there are, the more contrasting it becomes. But be sure that the heart of each piece is actually unrelated from the other.
    • Musical Theater students will also dance, so wear appropriate clothes and bring shoes for that.
