1) Applications

Applications to the Valor Arts+Media Conservatory are limited to students currently enrolled for the 2022-2023 school year. Students must fill out an application for the area they wish to apply for within the Conservatory. Application windows vary based on concentration. Please apply first in order to get on the email list for future communications about audition dates. Click on your desired concentration to apply. Applications are open until May 1, 2o22.

2) Requirements:

The following requirements are necessary in order to audition or interview. Please fill out an application first in order to be contacted for Audition dates. Please submit your application prior to signing up for an audition or interview. 

  • Dance Auditions
    Audition requirements:
  • Please read through all of the links on the Dance application. All needed paperwork can be found in the dance application. Please read all instructions carefully! The application will close on May 1, 2022.

  • Music Auditions
    Located in the Orchestra Room (3rd floor of the Valor Center)
  • Audition requirements: 
    • Each audition will be scheduled in 30-minute blocks. Please bring a parent to the audition. 
    • Each student who auditions for an instrumental, vocal or songwriting track needs to prepare two pieces of contrasting styles to perform at the audition. Instrumentalists will also need to be ready to play scales and arpeggios in as many keys and octaves as they can.
    • Please bring three additional copies of sheet music for your pieces.
    • Please provide your own accompaniment track or accompanist if needed.
    • Songwriters, please bring three copies of your song chart.
    • Worship: Please perform two worship songs–one slow and one fast–and also provide a sample 25-minute worship set.
    • Studio Recording, bring two tracks on mp3 or CD that is contrasting but representative of your caliber of work.

 

  • Theatre Auditions in the Valor Center Black Box Studio Theatre.
    Audition requirements:
    • Theatre: two contrasting monologues for a total of 3 minutes (see below).
    • Musical Theatre: two contrasting musical pieces. (90 sec. cuts per song)
    • One 2- minute monologue. (See below).
      • Contrasting monologues and songs are represented by two truly diverse characters with two distinctive goals in very different situations from varied genres of shows.  Be sure it doesn’t feel like the same person on a different day or in a different mood.
      • Contrast can exist in:
        • Character
        • Objective
        • Genre
        • Situation
        • Type of Language
        • Movement Demands
        • Emotional Range
        • Mood or Tone of the Speech
        • Accent
    • Musical Theater students will also dance, so wear appropriate clothes and bring shoes for dance.
    • Dance audition – two instructional choreography videos are provided below. Please learn this short sequence before your audition.  Wear appropriate clothing & dance shoes.
