Kurt Muenstermann

Instructional Faculty - Arts+Media - Theater

Appointed 2007. Prior to being a founding member of the Valor Arts Department, Mr. Muenstermann served as the the Director of Theatre Arts at Gateway High School and spent a decade as an actor and technical director for an educational theatre program, traveling throughout the country to perform and facilitate workshops to help youth­ develop their own voices in their communities through acting, writing, and photography. Mr. Muenstermann has a passion for encouraging students to dive into the art of theatre while putting their relationships with God at the center of it. He has been a Valor Discovery co-leader for teams to India, South Africa, and Albania performing in the latter with students on the Main Stage.

In addition to teaching advanced acting and technical theatre classes at Valor, Mr. Muenstermann directs the plays and musicals. He has led Valor theatre students to the Main Stage at the the Colorado State Thespian Convention (2013) and was part of the directing team that guided the cast and crew of Beauty and the Beast (2015), Mary Poppins (2016), Pippin (2017), and Thoroughly Modern Millie (2019) to win multiple top awards at the DCPA’s annual Bobby G Awards. In 2016, Muenstermann was awarded the Colorado High School Theatre Educator of the Year Award. When not teaching or directing, he enjoys traveling, reading, watching movies and spending quiet time with his family.
