Jamie joined Valor in 2013 as a Dance instructor in the Arts program and a choreographer for the spring musicals. Since 2015, she has been the poms head coach, Veritas Performance Company instructor, Musical Theater Instructor, and teaches Dance 2 and Principles of Dance during the school day. Jamie also served in the Discovery program as a leader for Peru in 2015 and Albania in 2016.
Over the years, Jamie has had the opportunity to choreograph Fiddler on the Roof, Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, Les Mis, Pippin, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Cinderella at Valor. She has earned four Bobby G nominations during this time and won best choreography for Thoroughly Modern Millie in 2019. Jamie has found this to be one of her favorite times of the year. The spring musical is full of creativity and beauty and she loves working with her team of directors and the incredibly talented cast each year.
The pom’s program has flourished over the years and Jamie has loved coaching and leading this team year after year at Valor Christian High School. The Varsity Poms team placed 7th out of 88 teams in 2019 at UDA Nationals in Orlando, Fl, and 6th place in 2020 in the Jazz division. The Varsity Poms team has also won back–to–back UDA Regional Jazz divisions in 2019 and 2020 and Jeffco League Champions from 2016-2020 with a Grand Champion trophy in 2020. In addition to competing at a very high level, the team has focused on growing as leaders in their community. Each year, the team puts on summer youth camps and various service projects throughout the year partnering with Habitat for Humanity, Children’s Hospital, and Developmental Pathways.
Prior to coming to Valor, Jamie choreographed State and National routines for Mountain Vista High School, Chatfield High School, and Peak Athletics. She earned multiple State and National finals rankings with her choreography. In addition to choreographing, Jamie taught jazz and lyrical dance classes for children 4-18 for almost a decade. She also coached the Stars at Peak Athletics from 2013-2015. The Stars are dancers with special needs, who compete and perform locally, as well as nationally each year.
Jamie went to the University of Northern Colorado where she majored in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology with an emphasis in American Sign Language. She worked in the Douglas County School district in multiple elementary schools as a Speech Pathology Assistant for two years before coming to Valor.
Jamie has been married to her high school sweetheart, Joel, since 2011. They are expecting their first child this fall. Jamie grew up in Highlands Ranch and danced at Starstruck Academy and was on Mountain Vista’s first poms team in 2003. Dance has always been a part of her life and she is so grateful for the opportunity to give back by coaching and mentoring dancers. She is grateful for the opportunity at Valor to worship the Lord through the art of dance.
