2019-2020 Academic Eligibility Standards

Starting in the 2019-2020 school year, the academic eligibility standard will be raised from a 2.0 to 2.3 GPA. This means that students must maintain a 2.3 GPA or higher in order to be eligible to participate in co-curricular activities.

We are implementing this new standard for two reasons:

  • The current threshold of a 2.0 GPA puts students at risk of becoming NCAA ineligible or being unable to graduate. While we applaud all our student’s interests in co-curricular activities, our top priority is academic readiness.
  • The 2.3 GPA standard will accelerate our awareness that a student is struggling with academic achievement, so we can intervene earlier and help our students improve their grades while continuing to participate in their co-curricular activities.

By implementing this standard along with grade checks every six weeks, we will be better equipped to monitor, intervene and support our students for excellence in the classroom.

You can find out more information about our eligibility requirements and processes here, or by referring to the Student Handbook.
